school is out! at least, my school is. sorry high-schoolers(suckers!). I'm getting ready for a summer filled with work, laying out, and a couple of trips here and there. In fact, for my birthday, I'm going to a Jane Austen Festival! (you don't have to be excited, I'm plenty ecstatic for everyone!) anyway, I leave you with this:

Hard Without Shoes

today was TOMS annual Day Without Shoes. Across the country people went barefoot, including me!

I went to class, the auto shop, Wendy's, work, and the gas station, all with sole power! By the end of the day, this is what my feet looked like:

it was hard without shoes, especially in parking lots with loose rocks, but it was definitely worth it and I can't wait to participate again next year!

TOMS shoes is an orginazation that provides people in poorer areas with shoes. They could be in Africa, Argentina, and even New Orleans. The way it works is, say I buy a pair of TOMS shoes. Well, with that pair of shoes that I bought, TOMS will provide another child with a pair of shoes! a pair of TOMS generally costs around $40-$45. it's an easy way to do your part. one of the best parts is that the shoes are extremally comfortable!

Almost Rudolph

I almost acquired a Rudolph like nose this week.

This is about how I felt all week. At first I had a stomach virus, and then I had a cold/sinus infection. My voice has dropped an octave... let's hope it doesn't stay that way! I would like to continue being an alto, not a contrabass. Fortunately, Im getting all this out of the way before I go to Chicago in two weeks!

New Year, New Business Ventures

As you all know, I have been trying to quit my job and find a new one. (If you didn't know that, then you must live under a freakin' rock.) Anyway, I think I might have a new way to make tons of money. I found an article on the Daily News website telling me that a multi-billion dollar company is hiring people to work at home from the computer. I read the comments on the article and found that it pays well, and all I supposedly have to do is post links on the computer. Fingers crossed that this deal is actually as good as it sounds!

My Trip To Boston

So I went to Boston last week to visit my sweet sister and brother in law. I went with my best friend Molly and we had oodles of fun! we knew it was going to be vair vair cold but we had no idea. the saturday and sunday we were there, it snowed aaaalll day. here's proof:

this was taken from the safety of the apartment. On Saturday we went to Harvard (we actually went to Harvard everyday in some form or fashion). we shopped all day and had lunch with Molly's cousin Chris. Sunday we tried to go ice skating but it wasn't open :(. So we went to the Institute of Contemporary Art instead. Monday we finally went ice skating and walked the freedom trail.
We were busy little bees! Luckily we had the lovely guidance of Ashley and Bryan. I'm so glad I got to go up and visit them and I can't wait to do it again. Just next time, I'll do it in warmer weather ;)

So, my childhood best friend got married last weekend. I know. I'm feeling like I should start sprouting grey hairs soon.

It was a nice wedding, Emily looked beautiful. It was at a Pentecostal church, so that was something new that I haven't experienced before. It was the first wedding from someone who graduated from MCHS in '09.

anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I will be walking with a walker soon, and I'll start forgetting who you are, so I'll just call you sonny.

it's not anything new that I've been gaining weight like crazy. so along with my eliptical, I've decided to do sit-ups and crunches during all commercial breaks while watching tv! this week is an important week for me. this week i'm doing a sort of retreat with my youth group called Marines. it's where we live together and we get up at 5:00 every morning and exercise. we're not allowed to have junk food, cell phones, tv, or cars (although I get to keep my car since I'm in college). Normally you go on a retreat in another city and get on a spiritual high, and you come home and that high fades away. but with marines, you get to worship and do all the retreat stuff amidst work and school, so that high stays! I'm really excited about this!! if you want to write me a letter, please do! just give them to my mom (she'll know what to do with them). God is so good!

That was the score at the end of the Madison Central vs. Clinton game. Of course my alma mater won! It was very exciting to be back in the stands cheering on the team, and watching the band play their excellent show.

so, this should've been up by the stairs that I fell down about two weeks ago. It knocked the wind out of me, and I couldn't breathe for at least five minutes. I feel better now, but my back still hurts, especially going over bumpy roads.

I'm at Southern Miss for my very first college game (thanks mom and dad)! I'm spending the night with one of my bestest friends! We've already been to the Forever 21 down here, which is a new record. Since, Olivia is going to be marching with the band, I'll be sitting with my friend Tabetha. I'm excited about seeing all of my old friends! They left me all alone in Madison :(. oh well.

so, I saw Inglourious Basterds this weekend and it was AMAZING. it had a touch of comedy, and it was just the perfect war movie all around. However, it's not for the faint of heart (lots of blood and gore in it). I won't reveal the ending but it's not historically correct.

Lost in Austen

I'm writing this as my blackberry cobbler bakes in the oven YUM.

So I just recently discovered what possibly may be the best mini-series of ever. It's called Lost in Austen. It's about this girl (Amanda) who lives in present day London. She loves reading Jane Austen books, preferably Pride and Prejudice (which is also my favorite). Well, one day she discovers this portal in her bathroom that transports her back in time to the Pride and Prejudice setting. She incidentally trades places with the books heroine Elizabeth Bennett. Everything gets thrown off course, and Amanda has to help fix anything that falls off the plotline.

Whew. I feel like I haven't taken a breath since I started typing! I think whoever created this show made it just for me. I'm constantly wishing I could wear those clothes and talk with a British accent and so on and so forth. In fact, I think I'll join the Jane Austen Society. They understand me.

I'm gonna name my kid Jane even if it's a boy.

I would love to put up pictures of the puppies I'm watching, but I'm using someone else's laptop for the week, so NO COMPRENDO.

I was just thinking about tattoos earlier today. Actually I was on FB, and I totally cringed. this guy just got a tribal pattern tattooed in a ring around his "bicep". needless to say it was horrible. there's nothing worse than an ugly tattoo... okay, nuclear warfare is pretty bad, but a bad tattoo is a close No. 2. I've comprised a list of ugly tattoos: tribal patterns, cartoon characters, fruits, names (unless it's an "in memory of" name, those are awesome), quotes that make no sense (funny story. I used to like this guy, who now has a horrible tattoo on his back. he's a d-bag now. let this be a lesson learned that one little blonde cheerleader can RUIN *ahem* his life. ). if "eff you" had a look, it would be the one that's on my face right now.

Now piercings I can get into. For my eighteenth birthday this summer JULY 9 PEOPLE LET'S GET WITH IT i'm going to treat myself to get my nose pierced. Or if someone wants to pay for it in lieu of a gift, they can. wink.

right now, I have that feeling. that lump keeps rising up in my throat, and my mouth keeps screwing up, but no tears are forming. I cried about thirty minutes ago. it wasn't bad; it's just that Idina Menzel performing "Defying Gravity" reduces me to tears.

I really need to prioritize my life. I thought I was sick of hearing my mom say that but it's true. everything's a mess. apparently I'm only good for taking care of myself. throw in a few dogs, and the homeostasis gets thrown out of whack. throw in three kids under the age of 14 and I get flustered. maybe I should just be like that guy in the movie Click and just work in the Beyond section of Bed Bath & Beyond, all alone and eccentric. at least that's who I'm thinking of. I haven't seen Click in who-knows-how-long, and nor do I care to ever see it again. (Adam Sandler, sir, I don't think you're all that funny. need I remind you of Spanglish?)

I just want a small vacation. just a little time off from work/the dark place in the back of my mind. the beach, flea marketing, Warped tour, anything to get me away. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I'M ASKING YOU! I'm about to go completely haywire. I just want to cry all the time and nothing is helping. Maybe I just need a good cry. but that won't work, because my tear ducts aren't working right now.

Man. It's been awhile!

So, this week, I've been participating in Mission Week in my youth group. We were in two groups. One group went to Krista Kottage, where they built a house for someone. My group went to Forest, MS, and put on a vacation bible school, for the kids in that hispanic community. It was an amazing experience, and I'm so glad I went. I was put in charge of the kids, ages 6-8. They were a rowdy bunch, but I feel I got the best age group. The 4-5 year olds don't really get it, while the older kids don't really want to be there. My kids were excited to be there, and they know who Jesus and God are. I hated leaving today (it was only three days, tues-thurs). I nearly cried as our church bus was pulling out of their church parking lot. Two boys in my class ran after the bus, and we were all waving.

This is one of the boys that was chasing the bus. Isn't he adorable?! He was totally huggable, too.

Chia-Like, I Shall Grow

School let out for the summer today! I'm very excited. After school, me and two of my friends went to Kiefers. I'm tellin' ya, if you've never been, go!!! go now! right this second! But that's beside the point. I saw a "celebrity" there! He was sitting two tables over, and I kept thinking to myself, "hmm, that man looks so familiar. I see him on television all the time; maybe he ran for some sort of political office." Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was Richard Schwartz! The "One call, that's all" guy! I started laughing when i realized it, and my friends looked at me like i was crazy. I also knocked a pepper shaker down a tree shaft thingy. I didn't mean to, really! But that's also beside the point. I almost went up to Richard, and asked him for his autograph, but that would've been weird.

I am now an official published author! Well, sorta. At school, we have a literary magazine, and I submitted a poem. Well, my friend Emily is one of the editors, and she told me it got in! I nearly spazzed when i found out. It's a pretty cool feeling. I'm gonna be on staff next year, and I hope I get to be editor-in-chief.

This summer's gonna be different. I can feel it in my bones...

Believe Me I'm Lying

It's been awhile...yes, i AM going to say that at the beginning of every post.

Anyway, I got a nose ring...no, no, not a real one, but a fake one (is there any other kind?). It. Looks. AWESOME. I can't wait to get a real one! anyone can testify that the only place i don't wear it, is at school. I can see it in my peripheral vision, shining there on my nose; it's quite fun!

Today, I overheard Frank telling my mom that I'm spending less and less time with them. I wanted, okay i actually did say it, to say that i'm a teenager, so get over it. he didn't realize I was right there, but we all got a chuckle out of it. But it made me wonder, am I too dependant? That i'm sixteen and my parents are just now wondering why i'm not spending any time with them? it's worrying me, because i want to be more independant. but first i have to be un-grounded. (5 days left, woot!)

I'm dying my hair. I've been telling myself this for a long time, but this is honest to blog. (heh, i wrote "honest to blog" in my blog) i really want to dye it hayley williams red, but not because of hayley williams (okay, a little because of hayley williams) but just because it's a cool color, and a lot of people tell me it would work for me.

Make Your Own Kind of Music

I haven't updated in a while. hmph.

A lot has happened. For one, I'm definitely a new person since my encounter with Christ (I feel bad about waking my sister up so late!) I've been listening to Christian music a lot lately. I really like this band called Leeland (why am I the last to know about this fantastic band?) So, I've been nicer to my parents, and I've been more responsible around the house.

I had to go to the dentist this afternoon. I had an ulcer in my mouth, so what was already a bad trip was made even worse. As soon, as the nurse left the room, I hopped up out of the chair, and I spit out the nasty fluoride stuff in the sink.

I just realized that I remember the preposition song from 8th grade. That's pretty handy, actually...okay, that was completely random and unecessary.

I would put a picture up if this computer wasn't dial-up. Oh well!

Northern Downpour

I spent Spring Break (which was last week) in Chicago. I went with my youth group, and we had about 17 people with us. I had an absolute blast!! we had a really good group with us, and i feel so blessed to have worked with all of them. Some highlights of the week include: the car breaking down (yes it was a highlight), it snowing when we left, working Gad's Hill (a mainly hispanic kids pre-school), eating at Ed Debevic's, shopping on the magnificent mile, meeting new friends from Tennessee, and singing the Sound of Music at the top of our lungs while driving around in the middle of nowhere.

I think my favorite moment would have to be Thursday night, though. The leaders of the program basically gave everyone a dollar, and told us that we had an hour to go beg for money, and get food for ourselves. So we got in our groups that we had been with the whole week, and we had $5 between us. We walked two blocks asking random people for money, and we ended up getting $3.34. Not yet discouraged, we went into Uncle Eddie's pizza shop, to see if they had an extra pizza that no one had picked up. The girl behind the counter said she would see what she could do, and she said that we could have some pizza and french fries for free! Right after she told us that, the owner of the store walked in! The girl put her finger to her mouth to us, as if to say "shh". The owner immediately smelled a rat. We explained what we were doing, and he agreed to give us either a burger or buffalo wings if we each gave him a dollar, and he would pay the tax, and give us the drinks for free. Well, while the owner was in the kitchen, the girl (we found out her name is LaSeth, but the owner called her Liz) would shove us the pizza and fries. We ended up leaving the store with burgers, wings, pizza, fries, and drinks all for $5! Man, I still can't believe it...Wow, that was a long story. All in all, you can see that I had a wonderful time in Chi-Town!

Oh, and I have to get my tonsils taken out at the beginning of June...yuck.

Today, was eco-tech day. Don't ask what it is, 'cause I don't feel like 'splainin it. Anyway, it's snowing!! Snow!! Too bad it's not sticking to the ground, but still! It's snowing! Did I mention that it's snowing? Yeah.
Me and my mom watched a movie earlier this evening. It's called Waking Ned Divine. It's a cute little movie about these two old men, trying to pretend to be this guy who died right after he won the lottery. It's set in a little village in the U.K. that has a population of 52 people. It's a really good movie; I would recommend it to anyone who likes laugh-out-loud, feel good type movies. I like those kinda movies. I also like historical romance type movies, like Pride & Predjudice, or anything by Jane Austen, for that matter...

"Feels Like the First Time"

My first blog. I wonder how many people use that as their first line on their first blog? I'll just be one of them. My sister has one, and I saw how much fun she was having on hers so I decided to get one. My mom helped me think of the name, because I pretty much suck at thinking up names off the top of my head. In case you're wondering, (and you're probably not) I live in a dome shaped house, hence "dome life". Right now, I'm starving, so I'll make this one short and sweet.
